The Hanseatic town Wismar and around

The Hanseatic town of Wismar lies on the Baltic Sea coast in the north-west corner of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In addition to being certified by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site, the seaport offers good infrastructure. This means affordable accommodation among shopping areas, brick churches and the Campus. Wismar does not only have cosy cafès to offer but also a cinema, student pubs, water sports and much, much more ñ a maritime atmosphere providing a pleasant and friendly space for creativity and the exchange of ideas. It is, quite simply, the place where others come to spend their holidays.

In the region In a nutshell, it can be said: Wismar is conveniently situated as a starting point to visit other towns and cities: For instance, Schwerin (30 km), Rostock (55 km), L¸beck (70 km), Hamburg (120 km), Berlin (240 km), Copenhagen (275 km). However, this in itself does not do justice to the town as there are also the beaches along the Baltic Sea coast sprawling for miles and miles, the breathtaking beauty of the hinterland, the old Hanseatic towns and cities, and much, much more in the immediate vicinity. Of course, if you are in the mood for some city flair, these places are within easy reach by train or car.
